What are those metal horse cut outs they hold at train stations and along the lines? (UK)?

I am baffled by those metal horse shapes thay have at train stations and along railway lines. what is that almost?

Answers:    Assuming you mean the miscellaneous black metal horse signs located along the railway between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton, they were put up surrounded by 1987 in twelve locations and beside slightly varying shapes, by sculptor Kevin Atherton, and were titled 'Iron Horse' (a pun on the impulsive title given to steam locomotives in the 19th century).
They be commissioned by a joint group comprising West Midlands Arts, British Rail and four local authorities, and the opinion was to provide some interest on an otherwise remarkably dull stretch of line.
