How can the parliament expect the UK to be more 'green' by using public transport when it's so expensive?!

When I was debating to use the sports car or Train to Nottigham from Milton Keynes it was any - Bus to train station lb3 return, Train lb32.50 return, Bus to my house lb3.40 return, (lb38.90 for public Transport). Or to use the car for lb15 fuel total. On top of this the train would embezzle about 2 hours extra.
So as an incentive of using public transport and abiding the environment we get offered a much more expensive, longer service costing us deeply of time and money. So with this surrounded by mind, why isn't there a coppers made. Which is a 'greener' option, keeping the expensive trains beside few people ready to pay for this service over a motor, or lowering prices and having chock-full up, cheaper trains ? I know what i would do if i had a political enunciate..

Answers:    The problem is that instead of using transport taxes to fund all the infrastructure they with the sole purpose fund the roads and keep 90% of the due to squander on the EU and other things that the electorate do not want. At present the banister companies have to fund maintenence of the rail from the fares the rank of maintenence has to be much difficult, by law, than the policy requires for roads thus the difference. Also during the 60's Beeching removed most of the secondary lines so that you presently have to travel a longer distance to move about between places, just regard as what would happen is adjectives secondary roads be removed and you had to use motorways and leading arterial roads you would have indistinguishable problem that the railways have. Also remember that public transport have to stop to pick up others and that will increase the journey times, I would feel that if you added up the time during which you were certainly moving it would not be much different.
I am totally in agreement and the fare in places close to surrey are even worse - if you havent a car it is expensive to the utmost.
