Answers: Honestly? Go for the one that you like the look of. In my assessment, the CBR is the best looking sport bike out there. Then again, I ride one, so I'm a bit biased.
Both of those bikes are WAY more effective that YOU will ever be. And I'm not slamming you... I've been on sport bikes for 20+ years and they are more able that I will ever be as well. They are essentially see ready motorcycles right out of the box, and not a soul but a pro will ever push them to their full potential.
Specs and raw information are great. But unless you have the talent and ball to push them to their limit (and individual about one within a million of us actually do...) basically buy the one that looks the best to you. The '02 would definitely be cheaper.
They are both great bikes I enjoy had Honda and Yamaha The Honda is heavier than the Yamaha and surrounded by my opinion I come up with the R1 is faster but I like the looks of the CBR better.
