I got a speeding ticket in I-285, doing 23 miles over the speed limit (which is 55). I got a ticket (lucky me) that turned out to be $160. Def not as bad as expected, but still crappy for an unpaid college intern. I'm planning on going to traffic court, but I have no idea what to say to a judge. Anyone been through this process before? And please don't suggest I hire a lawyer - I doubt that would be worth the $160 ticket. Thanks for your help!! :o)
Answer:
There isn't much you can say accept Guilty and ask if there is anything you can do to reduce the fine and hope the Judge is in a good mood he deals with tickets all the time and it has been my experience that the Judge's appreciate people who don't try to give them a long story [I spent time in Law Enforcement]
You tell the judge that you want to make payment arrangements. They will set you up on a payment plan. Make the payments as scheduled and you will be fine.
