..good one right. I have to call AAA tommorrow to get it activated again. I'm certainly not going ot drive it for now. My question is am I in total deep sh%#?
Answer:
I am sorry, but I fail to understand how people can not know when car insurance, driver licence, or registration lapses. What about rent/mortgage payments, credit card payments, utility bills? How do people manage to remember Christmas and birthdays, but not the expiry of insurance? Forgetting a birthday gift can make somebody mad, but having an accident without insurance can cost one hundreds of thousands of dollars. I don't mean to sound like a lecturer, but, as an insurance broker, I have seen the results of an uninsured accident.
hey stuff happens its not the end of the world
It depends on how long it's been lapsed. Less than 30 days, and they'll probably just charge a late renewal fee. More than that, and they might have reported it to the drivers license bureau. In some places, your license can be suspended for lapsed insurance and you don't know it until you get pulled over for something. When you renew, ask the insurance agent if this might be the case.
I usually give people a hard time who dont have insurance.. but sounds like your a reasonable girl who is going to stay off the road until you fix your problem.
Honestly.. you should be ok. Im not sure who you think your going to be in trouble with? AAA will probably be happy to have a paying customer back... your rates may raise for not having insurance.
The place u bought your truck could care less.. they just wanted to sell you a truck and needed proof.
DMV mayyy get notified that you had a lapse.. but i highly doubt it.
Just please please for the sake of all of us.. dont let it happen again.. be more attentive.
You will be fine. The only thing is, if the dealership calls you and says that the policy has lapsed, you will need to bring them proof that it is insured. They just want to make sure you are covered, otherwise their insurance has to cover you (in most states). Congrats on the new car
Depends on how many days of lapse. Normally insurance companies would charge around $8 a day for the first 30 days, but when it gets over 30 days then they might be an issue. And no, you're not in deep sh!t. Just pay your lapse fee and you policy should be reeinstated, except your Insurance company doesn't give lapse.
Worst scenario, you might have to make a new down payment to get your policy re-written.
