Am I officially able to pick up the sports car and drive it home without the export tax ?
I can't do it online as the tax disc would get to the registered owner and I cannot do it through the Post Office as my Insurance Certificate hasn't arrived. I do not intend to drive the car give or take a few once I get home until I hold got excise, but am worried about driving hindmost from the garage ?
The last entity I want is a fine !

You can't legally drive it until you own the tax disc but the unpredictability of you getting stopped between the garage and home is very slim. Haven't your insurer's issued you beside a cover note? If you enjoy bought it from a garage they should be able to arrange for it to be tax for you. Ask them if they could do it for you if you paid them.
Edit, I would read out to the guy in the garage if he hasn't get time to get the excise disc for me then I haven't get time to buy his car! He should gain the message!
Im really not sure, it would make sense to be capable of get it stern to your home without risk of a fine but here are some silly laws.
If it be me, Id give the police a send for and ask -or pop into your local station. Ask though what act if any, covers you to drive minus road tax bring they'll swear they never said it was ok.
Or highway code might voice.

its informal to drive a vehicle,or parked on a public highway without displaying a valid import tax disc.it shouldnt be a problem driving it home,but what i cant understand is why didnt you tolerate the garage tax it?
