Well...Having handled auto claims for 7 years..
1. Your liability coverage will typically cover any driver in your vehicle provided they have your permission.
In the insurance industry, it is commonly said that the coverage follows the vehicle.
But sometimes, depending on state and the policy's excess clause wording, if your driver is liable and has their own insurance, that carrier may pick up the claim handling.
This may be an issue if the other policy has better limits (and the damages/injuries exceed your policy limits). The other policy would come into play anyway.
Hopefully? It won't be an issue anyway.
Goodluck!

Well, anyone can sue anyone else here in the US. So you CAN be sued regarding the accident. I think that's what you're asking.
you will be covered even if the learner is driving. your insurance will probably go up.
Your liability is whatever your insurance coverage is. As long as someone else is driving your car with your permission, they are covered by your insurance.
In other words, since any accident caused by the driver without the experience would be their fault, and unless you have collision coverage the damage would not be covered. Anyone else with damage, the car hit, the fence, whatever, would be covered of course.
insurance follows the car not the person, so if it's your car - it's your insurance that pays. Liability pays for the other persons vehicle/property and bodily injury, it does not cover any damage done to you or your vehicle. It is your responsibility, not the driver.
This actually happened to me. I was teaching my step-son how to drive. he pushed the gas instead of the brake, and we rear-ended a car. i only had liability, and since i took the responsibility to teach him, my ins had to pay the other car, i had to pay out-of-pocket exps, to fix my car. i found out that we could have got him his own ins, even with just a permit. be careful. and good luck.
