All I can say is if you can avoid driving surrounded by NYC, do so. Not only are within too many cars for the space alloted, but pedestrians and bicyclists are also competing for like space. The traffic congestion overall is terrible. Some locations are worse than others. There's a virtuous reason why so heaps people clutch public transportation, and I really would recommend against driving there unless you won't mind doing closely of sitting. That said, it really does depend on the location within NYC through which you are travelling, but as a integral, driving there is unpleasant.
