Are 4x4 and 4wd equal entry?

IF NOT CAN YOU TELL ME THE DIFFERENCE. I LIVE IN OHIO AND CANT DRIVE IN THE SNOW. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE BEST VEHCILE TO DRIVE

Answers:    4X4 and 4WD are the same item. It's when all four wheel are driven rather than lately two. Some 4X4s, mostly trucks and SUVs, are full time, some can be shifted to two-wheel drive. Most, if not adjectives four-wheel drive cars cannot be shifted out of 4 wheel drive. It's more for handling and traction than it is for off-roading, although some of the best marshal cars are 4 wheel drive. Traditionally, when you see the possession 4X4, you think of some monster truck beside a skinny mullet-headed driver with a wifebeater tee shirt, whereas if you see the term 4WD, you chew over of some high-end Audi, Porsche, or something like that near a driver wearing a Rolex.
4x4 means that you settle on if you want the vehicle in 2 joystick drive or switch it to 4 wheel drive for grip and control. a 4wd vehicle is within 4 wheel drive and you cannot switch it to 2wd.
