13 hours beside one 10 minute stop?

If you were travelling on a coach for 13 hours and the drivers one and only had one 10 minute stop, would you complain to the coach company? It be up to the company, not the drivers how many times they stopped.

As a motoring writer I most definately support the practice of regular 2 hourly / 200kms rest stops for at least 15 minutes when you begin long trips. This is even more important for drivers of strapping vehicles, as these significant and cumbersome vehicles are more taxing to drive than are passenger cars. Fatigue is one of the worst killer on our roads and drivers should heed the warnings of authorities and experts alike to break their trips up into 2 hours stints.
And yes, transport companies MUST be aware of this more so than Johnny Public is, for they enjoy to adhere to strict rules, regulations and protocols re. the transportation of produce and passengers.
"Driver Fatigue is a crucial problem all over the world. Thousands of ancestors are killed, or seriously injured due to drivers falling asleep at the helm.
In the UK alone, almost 45,000 people are kill, or seriously injured in road accident every year, and road safety experts consider driver fatigue is a key cause.
It is estimated that driver fatigue accounts for up to 20% of serious/fatal accident on motorways and monotonous roads in the UK, although this estimate is believed to be okay below the actual figure of deaths/serious injuries, as it is regularly difficult to detect whether fatigue was a factor surrounded by a crash, and at what level of tiredness the driver be suffering. Statistics show that 1 in 3 road traffic accident are involving people driving at work. By completing a driver alteration program, frequency of accidents and costs can be dramatically reduced. Experts at Loughborough also concluded that a 150mg intake of caffeine, and a short snooze of only 15 minutes significantly reduced sleep related incidents for up to two hours.
What can drivers do to avoid falling asleep at the helm?
> ensure good sleep the darkness before
> avoid starting long journey if not hunch fit and well
> plan your tour to include 15 minute rest breaks (at least) every 2 hours
> etc. etc. "
There are numerous guidelines for drivers regarding this issue.
You own a right to complain, as a customer, to the management, as resourcefully as to authorities, if they do not adhere to these rules!
