"2nd gear launch." What is it? (1996 Grand Prix)?

There's a little toggle switch to the vanished of the driver on the lower part of the drop that says "2nd gear launch." What does it do? Is this adjectives to all Grand Prixs, or purely this gen? If I swap in a latter GTP transmission, will it still work?

Answers:    2nd gear launch is for icy or other slippery surfaces. Your sports car starts off surrounded by second gear to reduce torque to the drive tires and to backing prevent wheel spin
