Answers: My guess is the little sender (It's an electronic compass) under the rearview mirror go south (figurative meaning of broke..sorry for the pun)
You may try recalibrating the compass (recalibration info are contained by the owners manual) which may help as I've see this a couple of times happen but usually the module have a internal fault.
