1967 vw bug?

My grandparents have a vw bug, not entirely sure of the year. Its 60's I do know that. It have been sitting contained by the elements for 7-10 years, not sure the last time they drove it. What would I have need of to do to get it running?

Answers:    If the coup¨¦ has be sitting for that long, the engine will most likely be seized from non movement. Oil becomes bitter overtime and eats the seal as well..

Pick up the book Volkswagen for The Complete Idiot. It's still available and a great source of info.

Most credible you will have to drop the motor. Pull the head off. Try to turn the crank next to a socket and long bar. If the pistons are stuck, consequently pour some kerosene or liquid wrench surrounded by the cylinders, and let them sit for a afternoon or so, then try breaking them free...

If they don't budge, consequently look for a good running engine on any The Samba or Ebay....
