hello i have lately brought a vw passat 1.8 petrol w reg i would like to be paid the car shift faster as it is a bit sluggish has anyone get any suggestions i want to do it on the cheap, and heard just about cheap resistor chips on ebay are they any good or do they f**k your engine?

Get your self an induction kit and appropriate cone type filter.I have the same on MK 2 and MK3 Golf and made a big difference.There will be no problem contained by damaging your engine.
