01 Chev Impala, temp indicator?

3.4 L, I've replaced temp sending unit and the t-stat ( hawker parts), the gauge will float from 125 deg to 225 deg, the coolant temp on a scanner will also float + or - 10 deg. When cars at a stand still the temp will goto 220 deg and the fans come on. The saloon dosen't over heat, but it have a hard start at times, also when it at runing temp 220 deg and you hold the unemployed to 2500 rpm the temp go's down around 125 degs, Help, let me know if you want more info. Thanx's

Answers:    you need a unsullied water pump on it,whats occurring to it is the fins or blades on the pump are getting worn down and aren't circulating the coolant fast adequate, that's whats causing this to take place,id also enjoy the radiator flushed out on it,just to be secure about it,but gm hose down pumps are good for that problem, that's why it cools better when you lift up the rpm,s up on it,its circulating the coolant faster in it,apposite luck on it.
I would advise first doing a flush and spread on the radiator. This will remove any built up gunk inside the radiator, and let you inspect the fins for incapacitate. Basically, either dump some autozone cleaner (easier, not the best way) or help yourself to the radiator out and shoot some hose water within the radiator in the differing way of usual flow. You might also want to change your radiator hoses at this time, the pressurized system can't work optimally if the hoses are worn out. Also might wanna gain some engine cleaner for the coolant, help any buildup out of your block. Make sure your lover shroud isn't cracked, and if you have two fan that both are working properly. Sometimes one fan will run out, and that will cause main problems. If nothing else, lug it to firestone and have them pressure examination the cooling system. That will help pinpoint any leaky hoses or loose connectors, and agree to you know anything else they find.

Easy way to find out if your sea pump is bad is beside the car running, squeeze the top hose. If here is pressure, then your pump is working. Can't be assured of how long, but for the moment it is.
specifically the normal operating heat.
