Any parts that do not come from the dealer and do not say-so Motorcraft, or Ford Racing, is considered an aftermarket part.
If you goto Autozone and buy and alternator, you are buying an aftermarket alternator.
If you goto Ford and buy an alternator, it will vote Motorcraft, you are buying OEM.
OEM is original equipment capitalist. 99% of all aftermarkets draw together or exceed OEM specifications.
In many cases, any flaws contained by the original OEM member is re-engineered to the issue is solved in the aftermarket division.
