When do you put a 98 Jeep Wrangler SE in/out of 4 hi?

Can I park the car and shut it rotten while it's engaged? While the vehicle is stopped? The manual say I can do it at any legal speeds. Please oblige.

Answers:    If you're on slippery surfaces or dirt roads you can go into and out of 4 hi undamagingly. Don't do this on dry pavement as it can lead to driveline problems (esp. turning on dry pavement contained by 4 hi or lo).

You can park the car and shut it rotten in 4 hi (or 4 lo). If your stopped and the engine is running, you may own to put to the transmission surrounded by neutral to occupy 4 hi or lo and then hindmost into drive.

If you're careful of when you rivet (i.e., icy/snowy roads, muddy roads, loose sand, etc.) you won't have any problems.

FYI, every so habitually find a dirt road and drive it in 4 hi. This will hold on to everything lubed up.
Hope this helps.
