Answers: K20 comes from Civic, RSX. K20a2 is the RSX Type S version and is terrifically powerful. The k20a is the JDM Type R version and is the most powerful of the bunch. Stay away from the end model K20a3, this is the weakest of the bunch and will not give you any tangible performance profit over the b series vtec engine.
K24 comes from CRV, Accord, Element & TSX. The only one to consider is the one from TSX. TSX k24 is the solely one that is illustrious compression ... its k24a2. But ... although the K24a2 has more displacement; its acting out isn't any better than the JDM K20a Type R's.
Some have done the K20 a2 go before with K24 block from CRV, Accord, Element. But this engine can't be rev ancient 8,000 rpm due to piston speeds being too lofty. So ... although the k20/k24 hybrid gives you great torque ... it will not relinquish significantly better high stop power than the k20a.
So ... the most reliable and powerful swap from the k family is the k20a from the JDM Type R's.
Good luck, own fun.
People swap in the k24 for the torque resembling how it is with the b20. The k20 (depends on which one) are approaching the gsr and type r swaps. But an newer lsvtec version is a k20 chief with a k24 bottom train. That's a crazy combo together.
