Renault Scenic Automatic Gearbox problem - when cold, restraining lighting on and stays within 3rd gear.?

I have a Renault Scenic next to automatic gearbox. During the first 5 minutes of driving, only when cold, the Gearbox restraining light comes on and the gearbox change to 3rd gear and stays in that gear.
If I verbs in 3rd gear until the engine have warmed up, later stop the car and restart the engine the blemish disappears and will not happen again that time.
Does anyone know what could be causing the problem?

Answers:    I own a Renault Scenic 2L auto with impossible to tell apart problem - have have varying responses as to the problem - it has be ongoing for over 12 months - and seems to be heat related. Only happens when cold, once the motor is warm it doesn't happen again that hours of daylight. Now the weather is warming it have stopped altogether. Have had suggestions of auto sensor, pressure regulator problem, and the auto trans society what to recondition the gear box !
On another forum there be a suggestion of the Cold Start in the Cold Idling programme needed to re programmed - am pursuing this near the local dealer, who have come to the party after a complaint to the endorsed Renault website. We will see. Interested to hearing any other accepted wisdom this is a common problem - apart for the deterrent light the vehicle and gear box drives fine .......
It may sound daft but is here any transmission fluid contained by it? sounds like perchance not?
