Answers: The BMW X3 is obviously a smaller interpretation of the X5. Both got their start when BMW bought Land Rover hindmost in 1996 ( if I remember correctly). BMW used adjectives the technology from Land Rover and tweeked it awhole lot and poof we got the X5.
Now the X3 is still base off of the e46 body style ( closing version of the 3 series). You still own X-drive (all wheel drive) DSC ( traction control system) down hummock assist, free maintinance, road side assistance and and a bevy of other options avaliable on the BMW's.
Is it a 'Girl saloon?" uhh no. The only cars i see as girl cars are VW Beetles and Jettas. But, thats a short time ago my opinion.

1. Think driving an SUV is hot
2. Need to drive a BMW
The X3 is neither a real SUV, or practical even as a coup¨¦. I love BMW's, but I think the X3 is to be see in, not driven.
