Performance upgrades for jetta vr6?

im purchasing a '98 jetta vr6.. anyone have any suggestions for operation mods i can throw on it and what kind of enhancement they will provide?

Answers:    first off start next to brakes and suspension before any other deeds mods. no sense in have a lot of power if you can't switch it or stop it. then from here it your choice but I agree with the other guy, check out vwvortex cuz that forum have a lot of info available and can lend a hand you make some apposite decisions

16v or 32v? Either mode, intake, header, catback, and short throw will show some results. Afterwards you can try chips and cams..the 32v are fast and near cams will do some damage itinerant.
