Answers: Rather then do the sheet metal work to bring in the 6x9's fit. I'd get try to find some fully clad 6.5 for the replacementslike, the infinity or (my choice)JBL's.
I have presently replaced all 6/8 speakers surrounded by my 02 Camaro Z28 w/ the JBL brand speakers(w/ the Monsoon 100watt amp still in tack). Due to the stock driver's side front door speaker blowin. The prevalent thing I have to consider is all the repl. speakers have to handle the 100watts. Which they do and a bit good, I might put in.

If I were you I would shaving the Astro and get a time. Lets be real here. The speaker even if you bought the cheapest ones you could find would still be work more later the Astro. Time to start thinking about the oil lamp at the end of your tunnel.
