Australian Drivers - What are the best and worst make of cars and why?

I'm looking to buy a used car (small-medium sedan) around the $10,000 mark off. I would like to hear from race who have owned really well-mannered or bad cars. Please try to explain where on earth your opinions are coming from as that would really give a hand. Thanks guys

Answers:    steer clear of daewoo's & kia's. might be good when they are untried but will cost an arm & a leg if anything goes wrong beside it. Toyota camry or corolla could be your best bet. reliable & they hold their resale value relatively well. oh. and dont buy a magna. i have one & it was the worst sports car i ever had
never buy a lada, used volvo, or an cortina

apart from that obtain them racq inspected, frankly these days cars are much a muchness for 10g you should know how to pick up a car between 5 and 7 years behind the times with 100k or smaller number on the clock depending on the initial price.
