Answers: looks good, not the best, but much better than the ultimate ones you posted. And the price point is very nice.
I've talk to some people who be disappointed with kenwood amps (i enjoy only have experience with their organizer units) but thats mostly because they were comparing them to alpine, mtx, kicker, etc,
Looks approaching a good midrange amp for the money, of late remember its refurbished.
If you are only using one sub, later that amp will be just fine. Purchasing refurbished equipment is risky, but it your choice. The Kenwood amplifiers aren't specified for low distortion or high output. There is a adage that you should pay $1 per watt to gain a good amplifier. I don't believe that the amp will be 500 watts rms, but it might be at least possible 200 watts. And at those watts, how much distortion will there be?
And as a side transcribe to your side note...not satisfactory power can ruin a sub just as well as too much power. It takes a fully clad amount of power to move the motor on a 12" subwoofer.
Purchasing car audio requires childhood and research so you can avoid throwing your money away. Maybe save up a bit more money and purchase an amp i.e. not refurbished and also from a company that is prearranged for making quality amps such as Soundstream, Rockford Fosgate, or JL Audio.
Good luck
Good luck to you.
Have you changed your mind to not mismatch the subs? If you are going to run merely the swr 1242d. Since you stated at 2ohms I'm guessing you are going with one. This amp will be fine, if installed Correctly.
Update:
Under powering the sub will not harmed the sub...
It is a completely moronic statement... Thanks for the thumbs down steve!
YAY! You did it!
You found the perfect amp!
Do a bit dance.
Oh, and fail to acknowledge Steve M, he's not well learned in coup¨¦ audio.
