After souk stereo within 2000 sunfire, some cable harness problems?

i've been told by adjectives shop that the wire harness for 2000-2004 Sunfires and Cavaliers is around $150! they say GM run sensory info from air shoulder bag and other stuff, through the harness in the put money on of the orginal stereo? Is this for real?

Answers:    Yes within fact this is true but I deliberate they are inflating the price a bit. One way to report to if it is in reality true...is to put the key into the ignition cylinder (DO NOT turn the sports car on or the key on...basically stick the key in) unambiguous the drivers side door and see where the beep will come from. If the beeps are coming from somewhere surrounded by the dash...you are ok and don't entail that harness and you should be able to use a standard GM interface harness to install your foreign deck. However...If the beeps are coming from the drivers side front speaker...you NEED the harness they told you around to retain the beeping function (for your headlights-are-on beep, key-in-cylinder beeps, etc.) If any of my customers get into an accident after I did the install, and the airbags never deployed when they should've and somehow they trace it stern to me...I'd probably somehow end up one liable for damages/injuries.

If I am not mistaken...you don't truly NEED the beeps to function resembling stock...but I NEVER did a head-pop on those vehicles minus that correct harness to take myself out of the liability.
Yes it is true but you do not call for to do it you just wont own any of the bells or dings my friend did this at our local stereo shop although his air plenty were no tied into it they may be lately telling you that to attain you to buy it.
