Hi all, I just now purchased a portable DVD player, the unit is powered by the cars cigarette lighter and when the engine is running I can hear engine boom. I believe it is engine noise because the pitch change as the revs increase. Wondering how do I remove this noise? Is in attendance anything I can do at the cigarette light power source? If the section is directly connected to the battery I can still hear the clamour but not as bad. Thanks for your time!! PS the vehicle is a current VE Commodore Omega.
Answers:
Alternator resonance whir that gos up in pitch. Can be mostly eliminate with a capasistor and choke coil. What I would do is find a Auto Radio shop and ask if they can verbs up the alternating current noise from your cigarette lighter power supply. Don't forget to carry your alternator tested there might be a bleak diode making that noise. Alternative would be a coup¨¦ starting jump box beside a power socket just recharge it in the past the road trip.
