When do you turn on the transponder to "on", and when to "altitude"?



Answers:    Turn it on when you start the aircraft. You then turn it to Altitude (ALT) during your run-up, or since taxing onto the runway.
i turn it on when i fire up the aircraft and it's on my pre-departure check list to turn it to alt when i pilfer the active for departure
