Hi to you all. I hold a South African CPL and am moving to Canada. Does anyone know the process for converting my licence to the Canadian one and where on earth the best schools are surrounded by the Calgary area. Also I have all the training for the IF rating including the successful completion of the practical trial. However the incredibly disorganised CAA here finally admitted to losing my application form, so I'm immediately left minus the rating. So my really big question is, how do my 42 instrument hours count contained by Canada without an actual rating? Surely i wont enjoy to do the entire rating again will I? I am guessing and hoping that I only hold to do about 15 to 20 hours dual IFR to seize the conversion.
Please can anyone involved in flight training or license in Canada facilitate. Thanx
Answers: Go to the Springbank Airport and go to any the Calgary Flying Club or the Springbank Air Training College. These are the best flying schools surrounded by the Calgary area.
First what have to happen is your license will own to be validated by Transport Canada. How involved this process is will depend on how close the South African standards will be to the Canadian ones. You will also enjoy to write an air regs skill test. Your license will singular be validated for the purposes of acceptance flight training. You will then own to do the CPL written and flight tests for the issue of a Canadian license.
I am not sure if your IFR hours will count. We have a poor chap from the Czech Republic that have to do most of his hours over again. But call a conservatory and they will be able to provide you the best info.
Good luck!
