In the mean time I'd similar to to find full-time work as a civilian (my college is only sooner or later a week), working on the maintainence of Light Aircraft (like Cessna aeroplanes). I have driven by my local airfield heaps times but am quite shy and regard as they'll just chuckle at me as I have no experience. I'd be pretty happy to start by sweeping the floors and making the tea within order to work my style up to be a mechanic, and who knows- I might like it so much I stay at hand permanently instead of the RAF!
Do civilian (UK) Airfields apply such people, how should I best approach them and go myself (bearing in mind I enjoy no experience)? What would be involved in me becoming a mechanic, do you requirement a licence? Also what are my chances of soon working on heavier aircraft, like charter contents flights?

Bite the bullet and move about into your local airfield. Most flying clubs welcome people and would be happy for you to own a guided look around an aeroplane.
Most conservation apart from basic engine checks are carried out by private firms as in attendance are lots of rules and regulations concerning self maintenance and its easier to achieve a pro in who sorts the paperwork too.
You will find associates in the flying community (especially surrounded by general aviation) are huge enthusiasts who are single to pleased to share information and share an interest with you.
I bet there's one or more flying clubs at your airfield who you could approach...you may even carry the odd passenger trip within one of their planes!.........Oh and the RAF uses a lot of civilian firms surrounded by its maintenance very soon so you are probably better off seeking a position near a private firm (money would be better for a start!)
