Answers: Airbus? I'm holding out for the A350 personally.
The A340 is a dinosaur. Twin aircraft (the A330, 767, 777, and the soon-to-be 787) do a better chore for lower operating and acquisition costs. Remember, the A340 be designed in the overdue 80s when ETOPS was legally new, short, and not approved by every country. The A340-600 have a very long extent but there is a controlled market for this aircraft.
The A380 stands a better casual in its souk (simply because the 747 is approaching 40 years old contained by basic design and they haven't made engines powerful satisfactory to make a comparable twin). But this souk is very small and could be narrowed by a newer nouns of the 747 (the 40 year old 737 still competes next to the A320).
As far as flying on them, I think it would be spick and span to travel on an A380 (especially first class). As for the A340, it felt resembling a gutless wonder when I took one from Hawaii to Vancouver. Not like the 747-400 that kick you in the form when it takes stale. Other than that the A340 is the same inside as any other Airbus (A300, A310, etc).
