Does any body know in the region of a screwed up calculate?

Hi have a 2000 gmc jimmy it has in recent times started to show my gas gauge fluctuate up down like crazy it does not do it adjectives the time but it does doit can anybody help with suggestion what may be cause this problem and what the repair whould be plz help and thank you very much
