Accidentally drove next to emergency parking brake on?

i accidentally drove about 9 miles (25 minutes) with my emergency parking brake on and at hand were speeds when i went up to 50.. when i finally notice, i put it down and then my brake was acting abnormal because i had to press it down all the path to brake. then it had a really strong burning rubber smell. consequently, i parked and about 45 minutes later, my brake be okay, but then it started squeaking really loud easily. after give or take a few three of those long squeaks, it was going normally until i brake somewhat harder while driving and still in motion. the smell is still there. the item is, i can't let my parents find out or else i'm surrounded by big trouble. please help.

do i have to go and get it checked? and if so, can i say something besides the fact that i drove 9 miles next to it on? can i say that it just started squeaking out of nowhere one and only when i pressed it harder? anything but say that i drove with the parking brake on.

Answers:    There are 3 possible causes:(a) warped drums; replace them (b) pad or linings are glazed;replace pads, lining or drum (c) scored drums;replace drums. If the mechanic found only one problem, you MUST replace the other side as all right (if found on the back driver's side, replace also the back passenger side) surrounded by order to prevent the vehicle to pull to one side. And by the agency, tell the mechanic what had happen. This will make things a lot easier. Also try to ask the mechanic for an estimate. And try other shops. Then jump to the cheapest yet competent shop. OK!?!
If one of my children drove my vehicle with the driving brake on as you described and did not speak about me i would be far angerier than if they did. You made a mistake - tell them the truth and if you are able to settle up for getting the brakes replaced do so. If not ask them if there is some way that you can repay them. They trusted you next to the car - even if they get nutty they will learn to trust you more. good luck I wouldn't cop to driving near the brake on. Just tell your parents that you think your brakes entail to be fixed, the pedel goes down to far.
Well unfortunately your going to enjoy it looked at. Sounds like one of the parking brake springs broke and is causing the brake to drag in a minute or caused the brake drum to glaze over( approaching rubbing two pieces of glass together, makes a squeak.) that's probably the nouns you hear and the smell is from the brake getting hot and burning. Be honest, The mechanic should be and he will know when he sees it. Tell them the truth, you'll be surprised at the difference it will make.
find it checked before you go anyplace except the service location. The parking brake will rivet the rear brakes on most vehicles, what you describe, you may hold worn out the rear shoes on your vehicle. Time to do a brake job.
