2000 chevy monte carlo in water?

I was driving down a flooded street. I was making it through just fine then i hit a huge dip in the road where my whole front end went into the water. i came all the way ou of the water but my car then stopped and wouldnt start again. Any suggestions that dont require alot of cash to fix.

First of all you shouldn't have been driving down the street in the first place! Second, you should have been given a ticket chd charged under the Stupid Motorist Law (It's the Real Thing). Third, it is going to cost a LOT of cash to get your car going again. MAJOR water damage to the engine.

What happened is your could have got water in your engine. Your going to need to dry out the engine.
you could try removing all the spark plugs and then cranking the engine over a few times with the plugs out to remove the water from the cylinders, then reinstall the plugs ( have done this many time while mudriding and it usually works) .. that may work, unless after the water entered the cylinder, the pitson came up on the compression stroke and possibly bent a connecting rod or something of the sort .. i have seen cars come into the shop where i work, and have done the same thing that you have, and there would be a hole in the side of the block almost the size of your fist from where the rod had come thru .. i would try the spark plug thing first . and remember STAY OFF FLOODED STREETS YOU DUMBASS!!
hey

hopefully you didnt try restarting the car after it stalled. most likely the engine hydrolocked- thats when water gets into the cylinders instead of the normal air fuel charge. as said befor pull the spark plugs out and crank the engine- DISABLE YOUR FUEL PUMP AND IGNITION SYSTEM- if not it will mist fuel everywhere and catch on fire. make sure water didnt get into the fuel system if you were that low in the water. then reassemble the car and try to start. if it wont start look for a bent connecting rod inside the bottom end of the engine. also i would change the oil befor you try and clear the cylinders out depending on how deep in water you were, any other questions feel free to email me
remove the plugs and let it dry. Maybe spray some starting fluid into the sparkplug fittings in the block to speed the process. Check you're coil packs too. They are usually pretty good at keeping some water out but they dont really like to be submerged. If they are wet underneath them then chances are they are no good anymore. Then drain the oil and make sure you pour a couple quarts of oil down the filler to get any water out if there was any. Better safe than sorry. If you got any water into the fuel system then you need to purge the water so its alot easier to start. If you dont know how to do any of this stuff then take it to a shop that does. You need to do this ASAP if you havent done it already. Water is very nasty to motors, especially once you expose it to the air. You can corrode your cylinder walls and injectors and heads and everything else if left untreated. I'd rather spend 60 in new plugs, oil, and cleaners than 2k on rebuilding the motor due to carelessness and lazyness. If you plan to repeat this foolishness then I suggest you get a truck with a lift and snorkel, that way you can drive it in water up to the top of the snorkel as long as you installed it right.
