How to lock a ratchet?

Question:
I'm trying to unscrew a rusty, nearly stripped screw in my car's air filter but this ratchet wont lock. Is there a special tool to lock it? Is there a household item that can be used as an alternative to lock it if I cant find the locking tool? Thanks!

Answer:
all ratchet operates the same way just flick the locking mechanism from left to right to undo or tightened your bolts or nuts if it is in the middle it is in neutral and just free spin
try to use a long nose vise grip
hope it helps
Spray some wd40 on ratchet it is probably dry and sticking.
