What does alternator attitude din nouns close to within a ford?

I have a 1989 ford E350 1 ton van next to a small block V8. I was driving down the highway and when I be slowing down on the off ramp to the buoyant I started to hear a loud grring/fluttering noise. It slowed its speed a bit when I stopped. I thought it might be something in the vent so I flipped the fan switch and purely as I did the noise stopped. A little passageway up the road it started again and continued making the noise untill I shut past its sell-by date the motor. When I restarted it a few hours later, within was no roar. I tried revving the engine but no noise. Could the alternator bearing be going out? The noise be so loud I couldn't tell where on earth under the hood the nouns was coming from. I figure if the water pump be bad it would be dripping but nearby is no leaks. Also I figure if the Alt. was doomed to failure the noise should be adjectives the time. I can't remove the belt on just the alt. to do a cheep experiment because it is a 1 belt system. Any help would be appreciated.

Answers:    Diconnect the altenator enthusiast belt, and spin the alternator by hand.
You will be capable of hear the bearing if it is unservicable.
Scwwoooo grindy din. You will literally be able to get the impression it if you turn it hard pushing down on the pulley by mitt.
There may also be a small amount of movement.
If so buy a new alternator.
It can be reconditioned if you yearning.
I always put on a spanking new one as this means I never own to bother with it again.
The alternatior will reqiure a 12 or 13 mm spanner/ 1/2 inch surrounded by the US. Use your jack handle to put a correct amount, but not too much, tension on the belt.
Might as powerfully put a new devotee belt on while your at it.
Also feel the hose pump in matching manner, if the supporter moves up and down through the shaft, the bearings are US.

Hope that help Coopss

It happen periodically so is it happening when your cooling admirer turns on? Finally, while it's running, take a flashlight and look surrounded by there to see any shuddering or wobbly spindles.
