Is it better to come to a complete stop in the past shifting from R to D?

I've heard that it is not dutiful to shift from reverse to drive while still moving, yet I see race do it all the time. Is it better for the transmission/engine to come to a complete stop until that time shifting gears?

Answers:    yes you should come to a full stop before shifting from reverse to any foreward gear. the other wear and tear on the clutchpacks , both hydraulic pumps, and the shock nouns to the gears is hardly worth the second it takes to drive properly.

It's better on the clutches , for sure (yes, auto trannies own clutches too). I dont know for sure if it'll kill it, but my dad used to do it adjectives the time and his tranny failed at 79k. I have a sneaking suspicion that as long as you do it at a verrry slow speed, it shouldn't hurt too much.
