Our Micheline snow tires worth the extra cost?
With the price of Uniroyal snow tires at $99 each and Michelin snow tires at $149 each, is it worth the extra cost?
I don't mind paying for quality if they are the safter option. I just don't want to pay for the brand name if there is no added value
Answers:
The Michelin snow tires have been rated #1 in several comparisons I've seen on the web for performance and traction on snow and ice. Probably worth the money. http://www.consumersearch.com/www/automo.
The Bridgestone Blizzak REVO 1 are also rated highly. Maybe you can find a better deal on those.
yup pay now or when you are in a ditch freezing your tail off waiting for a pull

where do you live? what do you drive? I live in maine, ive rarely needed snow tires, my gf drives a 4wd suv, she wants to have snow tires, i guess it just depends on the person if you even need them. I would say that it probably doesnt make much difference which brand you get, just dont drive like an idiot and you should be safe enough
I would say yes because they will last longer and are made of a better quality rubber. My husband works for Michelin and goes on and on about how great the tires are. MIchelin has been around for like 100 years, so they have really perfected making good quality tires.
The brand name is only part of the issue, you need to compare the speed rating for the tires. You should not use a tire under rated for your car. (according to the manufacturer, that is, they are just speed ratings, dont take a tire above the speed its recomended for.) and you need to look at the mileage ratings. The Uniroyals may be a good deal, unless the mileage guarentee is only half that of the Michelins. All things asside if you have the same speed ratings, and the same lifespan, and warranties are the same, go with the cheaper tire.
yes there great tires i live in winnipeg canada where its always cold and the roads r wet or icy or full of snow yes yes yes best tire
If you go to
www.tirerack.com
you can view ratings for a wide variety of tires. These ratings have been submitted by the people who put them on their vehicles so they have been used out in the real world, not a laboratory. The owners usually include how many miles they drove on them and where they drove so you get a really broad spectrum.

This site will take you directly to the winter package deals. You can order the tires mounted and balanced on wheels so you need only switch them at seasons end and store them till next winter if you wish. Otherwise just order your tires and have a local shop change them for you.
Unless you live in a severe winter area you might find a good all weather tire you could use and not have any need to swap tires.
Check it out, there is a lot of info there.
They dont make a micheline brand tire. Also, what is the safter option?
