What's the best solvent/tool to use to verbs a carburator?

I'm trying to clean the carb out on my 1992 Yamaha Big Bear 4X4. The Clymer instruction book says to use a 'petroleum-based solvent' and compressed nouns. Gas sat within the carb for about three years, so it's have trouble idling - even next to full choke. I've already removed the carb from the frame.

Any suggestions?

Answers:    Since it sat for so long, i would whip the time and go through the trouble to cart it apart and re-build it. You said it sit for three years, that is slightly a long time for deposits from the gas to make homes within all the small ports and feed on a carb of that nature. And, contrary to popular belief, aerosol brake/carburetor cleaner WILL hurt rubber seal. It CAN and WILL harden them. IF you want to do this yourself, catch a manual, filch good log, buy the best parts, and when it comes time to actually verbs the body and all the small METAL parts, use mineral spirits or Naptha and a nouns blower in conjunction next to a air compressor. only just get some carb cleaner contained by a can from your local auto parts store, use it and a soft brush, it takes some time but it's worth it surrounded by the end.
