98 Camaro's keyless entry won't work but hatch unlock will...?

My keyless entry suddenly stopped working and on the way to purchase a modern battery for the remote I tried the hatch unlock point on the remote and it ended up working. So I ruled out the freestyle for that specific reason. I can still arm the system by locking the vehicle with the power door lock button and alarm system funtions generally. So the problem lies within the door lock, unlock, and "panic" button from the remote. Could it still be a freestyle or is the entire system jacked up?

Answers:    First thing to look at if lively with mobile is where the buttons are soldered onto the board as this tend to be the common problem as the constant pressure of pushing the buttons screw
the contacts.
Even if they look ok just run the soldering iron over them again.
Good luck
It's your keyless entry system that isn't working properly. It sounds approaching that the receiver isn't communicating beside your keypad
Now, you can determine this further by grabbing your second set of key to see whether or not the same article happens. If the second set works, consequently you know that it's the keypad and not the system.
