Trying to find out if it would be better to....?

get a modern trunk or get the one I own fixed by having it spot weld. My trunk latch has broken on one side & I own had to tie my trunk down. Anyone next to knowledge of prices or estimates on spot weld please!

Answers:    No, no, no. I have a bearing better idea. What are you driving? Bet you can go and get a whole deck-lid (Trunk door?) for that article at a junkyard for dirt cheap. I'm thinking under a hundred bucks. That's why I ask what you are driving. The smaller and more adjectives the vehicle in quiz is, the more likely you will find a color matched lid.

As to repairing that by re-welding it. Highly unlikely. Of course I can't see the wreckage, so take what I influence with a particle of salt. But you can rest assured that in that will not be enough objects there for a welder to work beside.

The corner body shop will contain such a welder-type-person. They can tell you beside a glance whether or not that can be re-welded. I significantly doubt it.

But I'm trying to get you out of the box next to your thinking. Try locating a used deck-lid for your car.

Plus, it lately occured to me that you may be speaking to the latch portion actually IN the trunk, attached to the motor as it were, no? Bit of a more difficult problem.

However, that WILL be mounted to rather a bit of material, and repairing it won't be too discouraging. A body/paint shop is the place that deals surrounded by this trade, not a repair garage. Depending on the damage, I'll bet you are pleasantly surprised at how affordably a body-shop will repair that for ya. Shouldn't be much over a Benjeman or so.
Look up "weld, or welder" in your phone book.. Call them and ask them for price.. Most welders will lone charge about $25 to re weld that latch for you..

If you enjoy any local "mom and pop" muffler shops around you, they would probbly weld it back for you, for $10.

If you enjoy any friends with welders or know somebody beside one they will probbly do that for free.. I'm always weld small things up for friends for free.. Larger stuff I have them to buy me a roll of solid weld flex ($8)
it was weld in the first place so have it welded again will be easier and cheaper
i reflect on you should go to similar to an auto place and have it fixed. simply to get it done near.
