Can a Laguna petrol engine be fitted into a Laguna estate model?

The petrol is 1.8 and the diesel is 2.2 litre.
Both are P-reg.
And any idea what it would cost us contained by labour?
And are the exhaust systems equal or would it cost us a new one too?
