Why does my saloon "chug" when I shut it bad?

I have a 93 Saturn, it is a encyclopaedia. When I park, I put it in colourless and apply the parking brake. Upon turning the ignition off the saloon "chugs" so to speak. It is as if the car does not want to shut bad, kinda hard to explain but somewhat similar to running out of gas or have your car die. Doesnt occur all the time, and the coup¨¦ starts and runs just fine, but the ignition will sometimes stick when removing the knob so that might have something to do near it. I know my description is probably not sufficient to diagnois any problem but thought I would get some imput. Plan to own it looked at next week but appreciate any thinking. Thanks.

Answers:    You have some biddable advice here on how to fix the "dieseling" problem, so I'll transformation the subject: you should leave the vehicle in gear, not surrounded by neutral. If your parking brake fail, your car is contained by gear, so it will still hold. If in nonpartisan and on a hill....bye bye. If on without blemish flat ground it won't roll, but what if someone bumped it?

Look at it this way, at hand is no reason not to quit it in first gear or reverse, but I've a moment ago given you good reason not to leave it within neutral.

Also - until you fix the dieseling problem (which can defacement the engine), you can let up the clutch if it does it and stop it at the double - but only if surrounded by gear.
It is dieseling. A tune up may help. But is also want a good systems cleaning added to the gasoline.
