You have P, R, N, D, and S? is that just first gear?

Question:

Answer:
No matter what the automatic vehicle you drive is, it always starts out in 1st gear.

If it had a D or O or OD it will start out in 1st gear and gradually get to the top gear or overdrive gear which is usually 4th or 5th.

Some autos have D, 3, 2, 1 some have D L2, L1, some have D, S. If you shift to S it means it will start in 1st but top out in 2nd. If you shift to L2 it means it will top out in the 2nd lowest gear which is usually 2nd. If you shift to 3, it will start out in 1st but top out in 3rd.
s=second
s stands for slow or low it is a low gear between 0 and 25 miles an hour
