1988 Chevy Silverado sensor ID?

Trying to figure out what type of sensor I am trying to replace.

The description go as follows: Located on the bellhousing right beside the starter motor. It is a single wire sensor beside oval jacket with integral clips and single pin within a round housing wich seals near a large o-ring around the pin housing.

I chew over it is the tach sensor but am unsure. Any ideas anyone?

Answers:    I hold reviewed all the sensors on adjectives the engines and do not see any listed within the location you said. The knock sensor is the only single rope sensor near the starter on a 5.0 or 5.7 engine, but it screw into the engine block, not the bellhousing. I know of no sensors that are mounted in the bellhousing>
If its an automatic trans, it's bit of the torque converter lock up. That's the over drive circuit.
