318 engine?

i have a 1971 dodge demon that have a 225 slant six in it and i want to buy a remanufactured 318 chrysler engine to swap next to the 225. to buy the reman 318, does it have to be impossible to tell apart year as the car? i show could i buy a 1987 year 318 engine to put in my 71 demon?
