i have a 83 buick skylark surrounded by great condition under 50k miles. and just this minute started driving it again. drives great, but recently made mistake of turning stale car next to it in gear overnight. realize my mistake in the morning i switched motor to park started it and began aid up out of my driveway, put it back contained by drive, then put it vertebrae in reverse but coup¨¦ was no longer going backwards. the shift lever feel very loose and i could not be aware of it engaging surrounded by any gears. to not make it any worse turned rotten car and moved out in driveway but it consequently began to roll wager on as if in indeterminate and when i start it again it can only move about in drive. i assume this is my nouns linkage which is the problem but do not have much know-how about cars. if anyone know whats wrong exactly, how serious problem is, and if it would be expenisve to fix? thanks contained by advance
Answers: Raise the hood and look at the flipside of the engine where the tranny is. On top here you should see the shift linkage cable and where it attaches to the tranny. Look to see if the cable is broken or have come loose from the tranny. If you dont see anything, have it towed to a mechanic who can locate the problem for you>
