Hi,i am getting plentifully of rust surrounded by the coolant reservoir.?

So instead of having a green coolant reservoir i am getting a brown one instead.any thought how this could happen and is it a leading problem?also what ways can i solve this?thanks!


Answers:    My 91 Lincoln did impossible to tell apart thing on a regular foundation. When the blocks are manufactured they're dipped in a solution which is supposed to protect the passage in the cooling system but every once surrounded by a while you get a block where on earth it didn't take. Flush the cooling system thoroughly. Use the calorific duty stuff, not the quick 10 minute flush, or enjoy it done by a shop. Then get yourself some rust inhibitor (I use the Zerex brand surrounded by the white bottle) and double up on the recommended amount. I asked a radiator repair guy and he swears by rust inhibitor. The water pump lube constituent of it is an old wives chronicle going back to the days when river pumps were packed like sardines with a rope similar to material which could be replaced by a mechanic but the rust inhibitor subdivision of it is vital, he said. It coats the cooling system near an antifreeze compatible oil and protects the passage. I've known the radiator guy for over 25 years and he hasn't ever steered me wrong. I added the rust inhibitor a year ago and so far everything is still nice and green. I use it within all my cars including a 1989 Toyota putt-putt and a 1965 Mustang hot rod, neither of which ever have any cooling system or rust problems. Rust will also shorten the life of the marine pump as it will cause the impeller blades to corrode. So hold the system flushed with the knotty core cleaner, add fresh antifreeze mixture (Buy the suitable stuff. This is not the time to search for bargains) and double up on the rust inhibitor unless this is not a cyclic problem like I have. If this is just a casing of the cooling system being dirty from commonplace age and use then budge with the recommended amount.
