265/75 r15 vs 31x10.50 r15?

my chevey colorado comes stock with 265/75 r15 tires. is nearby any difference in diameter if i be to go to a 31x10.50 r15? the tire store said they would work but i be wondering if it is going to screw with my speedometer or milage of my truck.

Answers:    Difference surrounded by overall diameter is about 0.10 of an inch depending on brand and model of tire which is insignificant - surrounded by fact inside the margin of error for actual dimensions of the stock tires. Section breadth and tread width of the 31's should be roughly 0.4 inch greater so they will look a bit meatier on the truck.

Where you will run into problems is beside load carrying size.

A tire sized P265/75R15 112S inflated at the 30 psi front and rear recommended for your Colorado have a load carrying size of 2,319 lbs.

A LT31x10.50R15 109S sized tire at 30 psi has a nouns carrying capacity of a moment ago 1,595 lbs - dangerously low as it reduce total load size for your truck by a staggering 2,900 pounds! Even at the maximum inflation pressure of 50 psi a tire of this size can only take 2,270 lbs which is barely so-so - equivilant roughly to driving with the stock tires under-inflated by 2 psi. If you do buy the 31's you certainly need to increase your inflation pressure to 50 psi or you could hold a safety issue. Under-inflation not solitary causes premature tire wear but it can also effect the tire to overheat and fail.
yes, your speedometer will be rotten, it will need to be recalibrated...but not by much...
