Answers: Is the fluid still at the proper level within the brake reservoir ? If not then you own a leak. If it is next I'd say you own air trapped within your lines.
Best bet would be try bleeding the whole brake system. Start at the master cylinder and bench bleed. Then I would bleed at the proportioning spout. Next would be passenger rear, drivers flipside, passenger front then drivers front.
Once you removed adjectives air from the system , you should enjoy a good brake pedal.
I doubt that your problem is a vacuum percolate at the booster. If this were the luggage you'd still have breaks, the pedal would a moment ago be hard to push.
Vacuum assist, percolate in the brake splash, booster. If you don't know what to look for then hold it to the shop. The shop you take it to may be any juicing you for cash or merely to lazy to digit it out for ya. Have your husband get a haynes booklet and go through everything... Or chilton...
