1989 Ford verbs Doesn't start?

I checked it this morning and it didn't start. I called my neighbor and asked for a jersey cable if it will work. We tried it and it worked but we really didn't charge it.
I'm puzzled because he told me the battery is a short time ago one year old.
I told him that i plugged surrounded by the cables from the Headlight's cover to it's source so it will move. But my covers don't work anymore.
he said I don`t know the battery is drain because of short circuit from those headlight cover cable or I left the door break open and the lights inside the car be left adjectives night. or in attendance are some other reasons he said. He also said I don`t know the battery though 1 yr. old-fashioned has some "Dead Cells".

please support me because i just bought this vehicle from my friend and he have be using this car for almost a year so the freestyle problem wouldn't be the cause if he have the fault from the vehicle. maybe the battery-operated? short circuit from HLight covers?
Did i just vanished the car door enlarge? or does it have an alarm thingy that drains it when i turn it past its sell-by date?

Answers:    when u crank it if theres a clicking sound is unmoving battery or starter.. no clicking or nil happens.. comatose battery.. clutch a wrench and hit casing on the starter .. should fire up..
its prolly your cars alternator thats charges the mobile well driving and its thats out of action your battery will die, and if you sports car is turning over but not starting it culd be your starter is dead
